Marja-Liisa Niinikoski is the New Managing Director of Finnish Textile & Fashion
The textile industry is going through a significant change, and in this change, Finnish companies have a lot to give and a lot to gain.
Marja-Liisa Niinikoski started as the Managing Director of Finnish Textile & Fashion in the beginning of January 2021.
At the same time, the organization is starting to implement its new, growth-oriented strategy.
”I feel highly motivated to be able to develop this industry, which is so close to each and every one of us. Textiles are an integral part of our lives, every day. In cooperation with the entrepreneurs and the representatives of the member companies, Finnish Textile & Fashion can promote issues that are important to the industry both in Finland and internationally,” Niinikoski says.
Internationalization and digitalization create opportunities for growth
”Regeneration is essential to this industry. Our organization aims to strengthen the member companies’ business environment so that it really supports their development and profitable growth,” Marja-Liisa Niinikoski says.
International competitiveness is an important topic to Marja-Liisa Niinikoski, who previously worked as the CEO of Helsinki Business Hub, a company that brings foreign companies and investments to the Helsinki region.
”The Finnish domestic market only offers limited possibilities for growth – therefore it is often necessary to aim for expansion internationally. Finnish companies are among the best in sustainability and circular economy, as well as developing new textile innovations. I consider this a major asset globally,” Niinikoski states.
”Digitalization is a significant theme also in the textile industry. It offers possibilities to boost productivity, develop new products and enhance production processes, distribution or services. Digitalization can also provide tools for gathering and processing valuable data. We want to support continuous digitalization in this industry,” Marja-Liisa Niinikoski says.
Marja-Liisa Niinikoski has extensive management experience. She has worked in development projects in trade, private businesses as well as innovation. She has a doctorate in economic sciences (D. Sc.) and a Master’s Degree in Law.
