We are looking for an

R&D Specialist, Materials

who will be the curious mind behind the materials of tomorrow — researching, testing, and developing next-generation textiles, trims, and technologies that bring innovation and sustainability to every Reima product. Your work will push the boundaries of what is possible in children’s apparel and footwear, directly influencing how we design, source, and produce gear that keeps kids moving — all the while reducing our environmental footprint.

What you will do

  • Explore and experiment: Dive deep into new materials and processing innovations — from bio-based textiles to circular systems.
  • Collaborate and create: Work hand-in-hand with material manager, product designers, developers, and suppliers to bring your ideas to life in the next Reima collections.
  • Champion sustainability: Identify and implement more sustainable material alternatives without compromising on comfort, safety, or performance.
  • Guarantee quality: Ensure all new materials meet strict global safety and quality standards for kids’ products.
  • Stay ahead: Keep tabs on competitors, technologies, and trends — and turn insights into opportunity.
  • Lead with knowledge: Maintain and evolve Reima’s materials library, helping the team make smart, responsible choices season after season.

How you will impact

  • Build and continuously evolve Reima’s materials innovation roadmap, identifying priorities, opportunities, and long-term directions for sustainable product development.
  • Launch several new materials per season that push the boundaries of innovation.
  • Maintain a 95%+ success rate in safety, performance, and quality testing.
  • Help Reima phase out outdated materials and replace them with better, more sustainable options.
  • Build strong cross-team collaboration and inspire new thinking in every project you touch.

What helps you succeed

  • You have a technical background in textiles, materials science, or a related field within apparel and / or footwear. A minimum of 5 years within the industry will be needed.
  • You are curious, analytical, and creative — equally comfortable in the lab, with suppliers, or in design discussions.
  • You think like an innovator but act like a scientist — data-driven, precise, and persistent.
  • Sustainability is not a buzzword for you — it is part of your professional DNA.
  • You are a natural collaborator who thrives in a global, fast-paced, and purposeful environment.

Why join Reima?

This is your chance to work where science meets play. At Reima, you will shape the future of kids’ performance wear — making it safer, smarter, and better for the planet. You will join a team where innovation is hands-on, sustainability is real, and curiosity is always encouraged.
